1Time schreef het volgende:"This letter comes to you, as a sincere apology, for the delayed flight you were on last night, causing you to miss some or all of the semi finals of the FIFA Soccer World Cup 2010, between Spain and Germany. Not only are we truly sorry, but really frustrated about the entire situation. We take responsibility for the delay, but wish to advise that the situation was entirely out of our control, and that our airline and passengers, were not the only ones affected by the debacle. Air Traffic Control caused rotational delays from early in the morning, because of, what we were led to believe by ATC, weather delays. Later on during the day, we were informed again by ATC that due to heavy congestion and lack of aircraft parking bays, we would experience further delays. Regretfully, as the day progressed, the ugly truth reared its head in the form of the real issues at hand at King Shaka International Airport, being that VIP private jets had arrived, unscheduled and not within airport protocols. These aircraft landed, off-loaded their passengers, and basically took up scheduled aircraft parking bays without following necessary and pre-determined ACSA airport procedures put in place for the expected influx of aircraft. These procedures disregarded by the unscheduled carriers and to boot, not enforced by the authorities, resulted in the chaos. Various airlines were forced into holding patterns and diverted by ATC, affecting not only 1time passengers, but all flights into that destination."
